Act immediately.

A scalable vision system for 100% surface inspection of continuous products – especially for extrusion products such as cables, plastic pipes and profiles.

The VS-580 combines four cameras, optical capture, real-time evaluation, visualisation and line communication in an application-specific configured platform.

The 4-camera geometry

More real image information. Less correction.

Four evenly distributed viewing directions limit each camera's capture range to 90°. This keeps a defect closer to a perpendicular view – with less perspective shrinkage and lower computational rectification.

01
More precise focusing

A smaller circumferential range per camera reduces the required depth of field.

02
Lower object distortion

Maximum 45° instead of 60° angle deviation to the next camera.

03
Less aggressive rectification

Evaluation works closer to the actually captured image data.

04
Additional colour information

Colour cameras support detection of subtle material deviations and contamination.

3-camera geometry

120° per camera

Larger viewing range and stronger perspective shrinkage at the image edge.

VS-580

4 × 90° capture

Smaller maximum angle deviation for clearer and more detailed defect images.

Round, flat or profile-like

Surface control for more than round stock alone.

Many production lines inspect cables, pipes or piston rods. In practice, flat cable, profiles and other geometries are also involved. This is exactly where the VS-580's 4-camera arrangement helps: each camera sees only a smaller angular range. Defect images remain more meaningful – even when the product is not perfectly round.

4 cameras instead of 3

Four viewing directions with 90° each reduce edge areas in the image. This improves usable image information and makes inspection more robust for different product shapes.

Round products

Cables, plastic pipes, metal tubes, piston rods, round bar and wires can be inspected all around and without gaps.

Flat products

Flat cable, bands, flat profiles or asymmetric cross-sections benefit from additional viewing directions.

Extrusion lines

For manufacturers of cables, pipes and plastic profiles, surface inspection is integrated directly into the running process.

Frequently searched

Surface inspection for extrusion, cables and pipes.

Depending on the industry, customers search for surface control, surface testing, optical inline inspection, cable inspection, pipe inspection, defect detection or quality control in extrusion. The VS-580 describes these tasks as one system: 100% surface inspection directly in the production line.

What is surface control?

Surface control is the automatic inspection of visible product surfaces for defects such as scratches, pits, cracks, bubbles, inclusions, grooves or discolouration.

Which products can be inspected?

Typical applications include cables, wires, plastic pipes, metal tubes, piston rods, round bar, profiles and flat cable.

Why are 4 cameras important?

Four cameras divide the surface into smaller viewing areas. This reduces extreme viewing angles and supports inspection of round, flat and more complex geometries.

Who is this system for?

Especially for manufacturers of extrusion products, cables, plastic pipes and technical profiles who want to detect defects early and with documentation.

Which search terms fit this application?

Depending on the industry, customers refer to surface inspection, surface control, surface testing, inline inspection, cable inspection, pipe inspection or optical quality control.
